If I Could Do My Freshman Year Over… | Payday Tip

Hebrews 12:11 Newsletter

Good morning Reader,

If I were a freshman and could do it all over again, I’d make some very different financial choices. My first two years of college came with a $500 lesson in overdraft fees—money I could have used for something way better.

Looking back, here are the five things I wish I had done my first year:

1️⃣ Used my meal plan. It was already paid for, and some of my best memories happened in the dining hall with friends.
2️⃣ Tracked my money regularly. I didn’t pay attention, and it cost me hundreds.
3️⃣ Made saving a priority. More money doesn’t fix bad habits—it magnifies them.
4️⃣ Avoided impulse purchases. Many of my money mistakes came from impatience.
5️⃣ Thought about future me. Every dollar I spent was a decision about my future.

If you have a college freshman in your life, share this with them—it could save them both stress and money.

Have a great weekend!
