Hebrews 12:11 NewsletterGood morning Reader, I have a confession. I don’t always share what’s going on in my life. Not the good things, and not the hard things I’d rather forget. It’s not on purpose. Just ask my friends. You have to catch me at the right moment to see how I really feel. But I do want to remember the emotions. The examples in God’s Word have helped me do that. Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. - Deuteronomy 8:2 NLT All through the Old Testament, God’s people built altars. Each altar was a reminder of what God had done for them. They could point to it and say, “God was faithful here.” What does that look like for us today? For me, it’s my prayers. I write them down. My prayers hold the highs, the joys, and the hard days too. Every so often, I go back and read them. Each time, I’m reminded of God’s goodness and how far I’ve come. This past week, my husband and I looked back at a decision we made early in our marriage. It caused some real financial strain. We hadn’t learned how to talk to each other about money yet. I won’t go into the details, because you probably have a season like that of your own. And honestly, that wasn’t our only hard decision in those first years. But today, I’m grateful for those moments. They taught us to listen to each other. His strengths cover my weaknesses, and my strengths cover his. We’re still learning that lesson every day, just in new ways. Here’s what remembering does for us now. When money gets tight, we don’t panic like we used to. We sit down, we pray, and we talk through how we’ll handle it, knowing God always has us. Forgetting looks different. It looks like repeating the same mistakes and wondering why nothing changes. I don’t know what your wilderness looks like. But I do know God asks us to remember. He wants us to remember so we can learn from our mistakes. He wants us to remember so we can be thankful for the promised land we stand in today. And He wants us to remember so we keep doing the things that protect it. Reflection Question: What lessons from a hard season do you want to keep in your promised land? Prayer of the Week: Dear God, help me never forget how you carried me through hard seasons. Teach me to stay faithful and grateful, even when those seasons feel far away. In Jesus’ name, Amen. This week: Sit down with your spouse or a close friend. Share one lesson from a past tough season, one you want to keep or start practicing again. Talk to you soon, Latrisa Worship Song of the MonthL.A.
