Good morning Reader,

Have you ever played dodgeball? The ball comes at you, and you jump out of the way. Maybe you were the athletic kid and you caught it instead. Either way, you saw it coming, and you moved.

That's what this week is about. Are you moving?

After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother, Matthew 2:13-14 NLT

Mary and Joseph's obedience gets me every time. Joseph was unsure at first — completely understandable. But once he accepted his role, he was all in. The angel warned him trouble was coming, and they left that same night. Not the next morning. Not next Monday. Not after he told everyone goodbye. Do we move with that same urgency?

Where do you need to make a move?

• Planning your expenses for the rest of the year
• Deciding how you'll manage an upcoming raise
• Adjusting your budget for a pay cut or a debt that's about to be paid off

You may not have the full answer today, but you can start the process. Don't wait for the event to happen before you get ready.

And here's your reassurance: sudden financial changes don't have to be bad ones. Someone reading this right now has debt that will be paid off in the next two months. Decide now what you'll do with that money before it's gone.

Think about what it feels like to already know your next move instead of scrambling for one. That's the peace that comes from preparing early — it shows up in your finances and positively affects your life too.

Surprises happen because we don't see them coming. But today, I want you to use your discernment and make the adjustment you can make right now.

Reflection Question: What upcoming financial change do I need to prepare for right now?

Talk with your spouse or accountability partner this week about what you need to prepare for before the year ends.

Prayer of the Week: Dear God, sharpen my discernment so I can prepare for what's ahead instead of reacting once it arrives. Help me see the changes coming and move with the same urgency Joseph showed. In Jesus' name, Amen.
