My Favorite Verses: Part 8 — A New Month, A New Way to Worry Less | Monday Push

Hebrews 12:11 Newsletter

Good morning Reader,

It's August — a new month. And I believe this could be the month that changes everything for you. Not because of luck. Because of a shift in how you carry your worries.

My Favorite Verse: Part 8

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

Did you catch that? Everything. Not just the big stuff. The frustration of running late for work. The pull to say yes when a friend invites you out to eat instead of sticking to your budget. God is not too busy for any of it. He is eternal. He has time for you.

This is one of my favorite verses because it reminds me that no problem is too small for God. When we bring Him our worries, He gives us peace in return.

I think of a hymn we used to sing after Sunday School:

When waves of affliction sweep over the soul and sunlight is hidden from view,

If ever you’re tempted to fret or complain, Just think of His goodness to you.

I didn't understand that song as a kid. I just sang it. Now, in hard seasons, I remind myself of what God has already done for me.

Here are the three steps to peace from this verse:

  1. Pray about it.
  2. Tell God what you need.
  3. Thank Him for what He has already done.

I've walked through seasons where I needed this truth badly — searching for a job for seven months after graduation, being sick for over 70 days with no answers from doctors, making million-dollar decisions at work, waiting years for my husband. God got me through every one of those. And He can do the same for you.

Picture this: instead of carrying August's worries alone, you hand each one to God as it comes. You remember what He's already done. Little by little, that anxious grip loosens. That's the peace this verse promises — not the absence of problems, but a guard over your heart in the middle of them.

Reflection Question: What "goodness of God" moments do you need to remind yourself of as you step into this month?

This week, when you pray, read back through your own testimonies. Let them remind you how God has helped you before — and trust He can do it again.

Prayer of the Week: Dear God, thank You for being faithful. When anxiety rises, remind me of my testimony, so I can trust You for what's ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen.
