Good morning Reader,

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

There’s a blessing in learning from other cultures. I recently discovered a beautiful tradition in many African communities: when someone passes away, the community gives monetary gifts to support the grieving family.

That amazed me.

Why am I sharing this? Because while our prayers and words of comfort are needed, they aren’t always enough. Sometimes, we need to act.

We often say, “Let me know if there’s anything I can do,” but when people are grieving, sick, or struggling, it’s hard for them to ask—or even know what they need.

They may be traveling back and forth. Expenses are piling up while income stays the same. In those moments, what speaks loudest is not just what we say, but what we do.

Here are a few ways you can show love in action:

• 💵 Give a monetary gift – even a small amount can help with gas, a bill, or unexpected costs.
• 🛒 Run an errand – especially when they’re avoiding crowds or social interaction.
• 🍲 Provide a meal – grief can make people forget to eat or care for themselves.
• 🧼 Wash the dishes – this small task can create space for rest.
• 🧸 Babysit the kids – to give them time to breathe, cry, or just take a break.

These small seeds of love give those we care about room to heal. I’m so grateful for this lesson—and I plan to live by this principle moving forward.

Prayer of the Week
​Dear God, Thank You for the resources You’ve placed in my hands. Open my eyes to those around me who are grieving or hurting. Help me respond with compassion, not just words. Let my actions reflect Your love, and remind others that they are not alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen
