Don’t Let the Ads Set Your Budget | Payday Tip

Hebrews 12:11 Newsletter

Good morning Reader,

With only a few paydays left in the year, I know you want to finish strong. But one thing can get in the way: comparison. The holiday ads have already started, and it’s tempting to want all the things.

Before your next paycheck gets spent, answer these four questions:

  1. Who is on your gift list? Giving gifts matters to many of us. But you may not be able to give to everyone at the level you’d like. Choose your top people and give to them well. Be intentional, not impulsive.
  2. Which events will you attend? Everyone is inviting you to everything, and you can’t be in two places at once. Budget your time the same way you budget your money. Decide now which events make the cut.
  3. What is your holiday budget? If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time. Set a dollar amount for the gifts and events from questions 1 and 2, and plan which paydays will cover it.
  4. How will you give back? So many people are in need this season. Choose one way to serve your community, whether that’s your time or a donation.

Don’t let the world tell you how to celebrate. You decide. Focus on what your family can do, and thank God for what he has already provided. Gratitude is the best cure for comparison.

Have a great weekend,
