Before Your First Swipe | Payday Tip

Hebrews 12:11 Newsletter

Good morning Reader,

Happy August!

Can you believe we’re in the eighth month of the year already? Before we dive into August, I want to share my payday routine with you. Why? Because how we start matters. Getting grounded at the start of a pay period helps the rest of it run smoothly.

Payday Tip:

There are two key things I do before every payday:

  1. Check the pending deposit — I confirm the amount actually received, compare it to my planned budget, and make any necessary adjustments.
  2. Reconcile my account — I make sure all pending transactions have cleared or are accounted for.

This helps me avoid surprises and lets me steward well from the start. That way, when I make that first swipe, I already know exactly where I stand.

Don’t spend before you check. Make sure your starting balance is real — not based on guesses or what's “supposed to hit.”

If you need help getting into a rhythm with your payday routine, just reply to this email or sign up for a consultation. I’d love to help you build a plan that fits your household.

Have a great weekend!

-Latrisa
