I help Christians families move from working silos to working together on their finances so they can reduce stress, build wealth, and gain financial freedom.
Hebrews 12:11 NewsletterGood morning Reader, This year is going by so fast. I think I say that every year! As we get older, time seems to speed up. But think about a child on a one-hour car ride. They will ask, “Are we there yet?” fifty times. Why are kids so impatient, while adults wish time would slow down? I believe it comes down to one word: responsibility. A child doesn’t carry the worries of an adult. Their biggest concerns are homework and what they will play today. Wouldn’t it be nice to live with that kind of peace again? I think we can. So be honest. What are you carrying right now? Your to-do list. Your kids’ activities. Family drama. Health concerns. Bills that came in higher than you expected. The list can go on and on. We were never built to hold all of that, but somehow we keep trying. God gives us a better way: Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT This month, I want to share two things that can help slow down your days. First, practice gratitude. We can’t create more time. But gratitude can quiet the noise in our minds so we can be present. Think about it. When we are thankful for our job instead of dreading it, our workdays feel better. The same is true when we thank God for the paycheck instead of only complaining about the bills. Take the thing you keep complaining about and flip the switch. It makes a difference. Second, give God what belongs to him. This weekend, I asked a client a question: “Do you believe God can handle this better than you can?” If you are a believer, the answer is yes every time. God may ask us to take a step, but that doesn’t mean the whole situation is ours to carry. When a family member suddenly gets sick, we can feel helpless. That is the moment to trade our worry for prayer. God can give us peace. What if you walked into this week with a lighter load? You still show up for your job, your family, and your budget. But you stop carrying what was never yours. Your mind is clear enough to enjoy the people in front of you. And at night, you rest, because you know God is holding what you can’t. God is our Father, and we are his children. A child doesn’t wonder if there will be food on the table today. They trust their parent to take care of it. God wants that same trust from us. When we trust him, we are free to focus on our responsibilities, not his. Reflection Question: What situation do you need to hand over to God this week? Prayer of the Week: Dear God, show me what I am carrying that belongs to you. Help me release it and trust you with what I cannot control. Fill me with your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Your Next Step: During your prayer time today, name the situation and tell God you are trusting him with it. Talk to you soon, Latrisa P.S. Encouragement is meant to be shared.
